Two FC FAST teams win Solar Premier Cup
Both our FC FAST 07' (Womack) and FC FAST 10' (Powell) teams won the Solar Premier 2020 Cup. It was a weekend of two's. Two teams entered, two teams make and win the finals. Two championship games ending in 2-0 wins. And two brothers, on two different teams, causing the parents to split up but each getting to witness a similar fate.
Our 2010 boys team lead by Coach Loren Powell went 2-0-1 in the group stage with their tie coming at the hands of Solar Moreno but they would still come out winning their bracket. They would get a chance to avenge their only blemish in the finals where they faced Solar Moreno again. FC FAST would come out fast and have two in the back of the net before the first half water break. They would have more chances as they dominated their opponents but that would be all that was needed as they cruised to victory.
Our 2007 boys team lead by Coach Dave Womack tournament mirrored that of our 2010 boys team. They went 2-1 in the group stage and also would avenge their only loss by beating FC Dallas North Black in the finals 2-0 after dropping a disappointing 1-0 game to them in the group stages.
The team would carry this momentum into their Plano Premier League qualifying tournament by winning every game and reclaiming a spot in D1. The 2010 team has already qualified for the Classic League.
"We are very proud of both teams," said Director of Coaching Paul Donaghy. "Both of these teams are well coached which is very evident when you watch them on the field. Their ball movement is top notch and they both approach the games from a disciplined manner. The individual skill is there but so is the team approach. We are excited how both these teams are kicking off the fall after a crazy last few months."
