FC FAST 08 (Donaghy) win 2019 Premier Cup

FC FAST 08 (Donaghy) won the 2019 Solar Premier Cup on a brutally hot August weekend in North Dallas.  It was the first trophy for the team that will be moving from the Texas Clubs League last year, as we are an 08/09 mix group, to the Plano Premier League this season.

Out of the game the team would face a team that played in Classic D1 last season, Solar Katic.  It was a very physical match in which FC FAST controlled much of the game but had a tough time beating Solar's impressive keeper.  In the end, the two teams played out to a 1-1 draw but they would settle the score later.  In game two the team faced Solar East Brown headed by Dallas Sidekicks superstar Cameron Brown.  After conceding the first goal against the run of play the teams pressure eventually proved to much as FC FAST pulled away to a 4-1 victory.  The team then claimed the top spot in the bracket beating Solar Tezkol 2-1 in the third game, a dominant performance that looked closer than it was due to a late goal on a penalty kick due to an inadvertent hand ball in the box.

Onto the semifinals the team took care of business in a professional manner 3-0 against Victory Green at 2:00 in the Texas heat at Craig Ranch.  The finals opponent, Solar Katic, would already be in their air conditioned homes resting after they won their semifinals an hour-and-a-half earlier.  Despite the lack of rest, despite facing a D1 Classic team that happened to be a host team, despite being down to two subs due to injuries the boys were professional once again with another 3-0 victory to take home the championship.

"It was a tremendous effort by our 08 boys team," said coach Paul Donaghy.  "Coaches Rick and Juan, along with myself, have been thrilled with this teams development progression since last fall.  They are now a combined 11-1-1 so far this year and a well deserved champion of the Premier Cup.  To win both games 3-0 in the playoffs shows you how focused and determined these boys are.  They are not to be underestimated any longer as they proved over the course of this weekend."

Congratulations to Andrew, Arnav, Ben, Carter, Christian, Dylan, Hunter, Krish, Lucas, Nathan, Noah, and Sharan,
